Who is allowed to steer a pleasure boat?

On the shipping routes, the pilot of a pleasure boat must possess sufficient navigation skills. He or she must always be capable of making any necessary steering adjustments to keep his or her boat under control.

Furthermore, depending on certain features of the boat, there are conditions with regard to the minimum age of the pilot and whether or not he or she must have a sailing licence.

Finally, the pilot of a pleasure boat which is pulling at least one water skier must be accompanied by a fellow crew member aged at least 15.
